What comes to mind when you hear the word "neighbour"? For the Jews of Jesus day a neighbour could only ever be another Jew. Through a series of questions Jesus challenged an expert in the law concerning that conviction, and confronted him in a parable with the uncomfortable truth of what a true neighbour looked like. A true neighbour is willing to sacrifice on a number of fronts for those around them who are in need.
