Questions Jesus asked – Part 1 – Who do you say I am?

Who do you say Jesus is?

After asking about the opinion of others concerning His identity, that’s the question Jesus asked His followers in the passage we’ll be looking at on Sunday morning, “Who do you say I am?”

That’s the most important question anyone has to answer. Do you know that it’s one of a total of 307 questions Jesus asked in the gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John?

By comparison, he was only asked 183 questions, of which He directly answered just 8. He followed the pattern of the rabbis of His time, who frequently responded to questions not with straight answers, but with more thought-provoking questions.

In October, we’re going to have four missions-related messages as we ready ourselves for our missions conference, but until then, we’re going to contemplate just a small sample of the questions Jesus asked, two of which can be found in Matthew 16:13-20.
