“Old Testament Messianic Prophecies,” or “Old Testament Prophecies of Jesus.” are portions of Scripture that reach from the Old Testament, all the way into the New Testament, where they are linked to a historical event by a simple reference or comparison, or where they find their ultimate fulfillment. Some suggest that there are in excess of 300 prophecies that Jesus fulfilled at His first coming, and over 400 that pertain to Him. That said, some of the prophecies we will cite, are not obviously Messianic, have had their value questioned by sceptics and naysayers, and will require some explanation for us to understand them and appreciate their worth. This week we will only concern ourselves with prophecies of Jesus’ birth, and by no means consider all of them. Friends what we believe, especially what we believe regarding Jesus, does require faith, but it is by no means blind faith. You don’t have to abandon reason, and throw your brain in the trash when you make the decision to put your trust in Him and follow Him.
