A tale of two seas – Generous Carers
In addition to being gospel bearers (personally bearing the good news to others) and mission sharers (partnering with missionaries to reach the ends of the earth), an outward looking church also has to be *generous carers. Reaching the world with the good news of Jesus Christ is not just a matter of understanding the need and having a heart for it, it requires resources, material resources. A sacrifice of time, talent, and treasure. We can talk about the Great Commission and its demands until we’re blue in the face. We can meditate on the lessons we’ve learnt from the churches of Macedonia and the church of Antioch of Syria. We can heartily agree on the importance of being of being outward looking – gospel bearers and mission sharers, but we simply can’t ignore the fact that taking the good news of Jesus Christ to places in our city, country, and world that we personally are incapable of impacting requires money.
