Ecclesiastes – How to be better off – Part 2
In Ecclesiastes 7 and 8, King Solomon was concerned with the role and benefit of wisdom. He’d conducted one experiment after another and found that worldly wisdom got him nowhere, so he decided to put godly wisdom to the test. In the process he found that constrained by our finite minds, wisdom couldn’t explain all of life’s mysteries, but could make three very positive contributions to our lives: It could make life better, help us see life clearly, and help us face life stronger. We looked at the first two contributions two weeks ago. This week, we’ll look at the third, found in Ecclesiastes 7:19-29. We’ll also examine godly wisdom’s sternest test in Ecclesiastes 8: the problem of evil in the world.
