Fear factor vs faith factor 01 – The fear of failure
About six months ago, I was asked by a member of our congregation if we could please revisit a series I had done in 2018, titled, “Fear factor vs faith factor.” I’m not sure whether she was struggling with a particular fear at that point in her life, but the fact of the matter is that all of us are prone to struggling with fear to some degree at some point in our lives. A variety of different experiences, including a trial, a trauma, a conflict, a loss, or even a change, can evoke this frequently unhelpful emotion. While we should rightly be disturbed by the pervasiveness of fear in our lives, we should not be surprised by its presence. Of all the commands we are given in Scripture the one that is the most prevalent is “Fear not,” or “Do not be afraid.” David Jeremiah notes that it occurs in various forms and settings more than 200 times in the Word of God. Over the course of the next 8 weeks, we're going to learn how to combat a variety of fears we face with faith, including the fear of failure, which we'll be looking at this week. We look forward to you joining us on that journey.
