Why become a member?
Our purpose is to encourage believers to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, worshiping, walking, working, and witnessing together to God’s glory.
The phrase “fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ” encapsulates what we as SBC (Sandton Bible Church) have as a goal for every person who sees themselves as part of the SBC family.
We believe this goal is best accomplished when you become integrated into the very fibre of our local church, embracing its purpose, not only in your life, but also in the life of our community, country, and world.
Church membership is not just about visiting the family but joining the family. It provides the logical next step for that person who has trusted Jesus Christ as their Saviour and wants to know, “Where do I go from here?” It gives them a sense of belonging, a feeling, and an understanding that they are an integral part of a family bound by a common purpose, which is ultimately to glorify God. You were designed to be part of a church family and we hope SBC can be that family for you.
What does it take to become a member?
Consider whether the following statements are true of you:
- I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose from the dead, and only by trusting in Him alone can I be saved from the penalty of sin.
- I have been baptized, or am willing to be baptized, by full immersion in obedience to Christ’s clear command in the Bible. (For more information on baptism, read “Do You Want to Be Baptised?”, or enquire at [email protected])
- I am willing to submit to the Statement of Faith of SBC, and to its leaders as they submit to Christ
- I am prepared to personally commit through the giving of my time and resources, and the exercise of my gifts, to seeing the purpose of SBC fulfilled in my life and the lives of others.

This exciting course will introduce you to SBC, and help you discover the beliefs, strategy, structure and purpose that serves as the foundation of SBC.
